As Christians we are sometimes quick to judge others because they do not live like us, look like us or talk like us. Sometimes we even pass judgment on our brother, sister, neighbor or friends. The Lord tells us in Romans 14:13 – Therefore, let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead to make up our minds not to put a stumbling block or obstacle in our brother’s way. In Romans 2: 1- 5, The word tells us that when we judge others we are condemning ourselves; we do the same things we condemn others for. Only God knows the truth and can offer righteous judgment. We are human and can’t judge as God. When we pass judgment onto others, we are putting ourselves in God’s position. Before we speak about others, let us remember that only God has the right to judge others and his judgment brings us to repentance. In 2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you; not wanting that any should perish, but that everyone comes to repentance. The Greek word makrothumia means to have patience toward others that results from being filled with the Holy Spirit. Only when we have this type of patience can we truly love others and allow the love of God to be manifest in our lives to reach out and touch others. God has called us to love others and to go in the highways and byways to compel them to come in. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to put a guard over our lips and to give us discernment to see the needs of others then we won’t be so quick to judge. We all will face judgment one day when we have to give account of our actions and words that have been spoken in this flesh. Let us become vessels that are totally surrendered unto the Lord in word and action.
