Have you ever had to surrender things that were out of your control? Has God dealt with you about things in your life that you must let go of? Has He revealed things to you that shall come to pass in the future? When I think about surrendering I think of a time when I was robbed at gunpoint and all I could do was hold up my arms and surrender unto what the robbers wanted from me. If I had not it could have cost me my life. I was scared, nervous and my mind could not comprehend that I was being robbed at gunpoint. But, when the experience was over I was nervous and relieved that I was still alive to raise my daughter. When I think about surrendering unto the Lord, I think about all the trials and tests that I have come through. None of the things that I was asked to surrender unto the Lord were easy at the time, but yet it has changed me and made me stronger in the Lord. I know that I will be tried and tested as I walk with the Lord. But when I raise my arms in surrender unto the Lord, He walks with me through every trial and test. Only when I surrender am I saying to the Lord not my way but thine be done in my life. In surrendering I am taking my hand off of the situation and giving all my rights to the Lord to do as He sees is best for me. In Proverbs 3: 5 –7 the Lord tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” To surrender, we must have trust in whom we are surrendering and know that everything will be fine. We as humans, always feel that our way is best and that we can handle the situations and work things out for the best. So many times if we would just surrender unto the Lord at the beginning of each and every trial and test we would not go through so much pain and agony. God’s word tells us “That all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose” in Romans 8:28. My prayer is Lord teach me to surrender fully unto your mighty hand and allow the Spirit of God to prepare me and to continue to mold me into His image. I must be molded and placed in the fire to learn total submission to the Lord.
